Thomas Watson's beer house was open during the mid-1800s and was located on the north side of Clayport Street, between the junction of Fenkle Street and Dispensary Street, more recently demolished in the mid-1900s to make way for redevelopment.

It's unclear when Thomas Watson opened a beer house from his business on Clayport Street, which was located between the Greys Inn and Anchor Inn, the records show he was living there from 1841.

Thomas Watson was a 'Cooper' by trade and was born in Newton-by-the-Sea. His trade as a traditional craftsman who built and repaired wooden barrels, casks, vats, buckets, and other stave-based containers meant that he was closely linked to the brewery trade, and it seems that he ran the beer house alongside his main business whilst living on Clayport Street.
